New Year Shock: Commercial LPG Prices Jump ₹111 | Jan 2026 Update
New Delhi: As the country welcomed the New Year, businesses received a significant jolt. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have announced a sharp increase in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders effective January 1, 2026. This hike of ₹111 reverses the trend of price cuts seen in late 2025.
While commercial rates have skyrocketed, the price of the 14.2 kg Domestic LPG cylinder (used in households) remains UNCHANGED. Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices have also seen a reduction.
City-Wise Commercial LPG Rates (19 KG)
The revised prices for the 19-kilogram commercial cylinders in the four major metro cities are as follows:
| City | Old Price (₹) | New Price (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi | 1,580.50 | 1,691.50 |
| Kolkata | 1,684.00 | 1,795.00 |
| Mumbai | 1,531.50 | 1,642.50 |
| Chennai | 1,739.50 | 1,849.50 |
Why the Sudden Hike?
Industry experts point to volatile global energy markets as the primary driver. State-owned fuel retailers (Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum) revise cylinder rates on the 1st of every month based on the average international benchmark price and foreign exchange rates.
This hike is expected to impact the operational costs of:
- Restaurants and Hotels
- Catering Services
- Tea Stalls and Street Food Vendors
